Privacy

This site is a free checker and calculator, and it collects as little as possible. This page explains what happens when you use it.

What you enter stays in your browser

The checker and the Italy calculator work in your browser. The amounts, dates and countries you type are used to work out the result on your own device. They are not sent to a server or to the analytics tool.

What the site counts

I use Umami Cloud, a privacy-focused analytics service, to count visits and see how the pages are used. It records things like which page was viewed, roughly where the visitor came from, the type of device and browser, clicks on buttons and links, how far down a page was scrolled, and which country and type of result were chosen in the checker (for example, "Italy" and "may be able to reclaim"). It never records the amounts you enter.

Umami describes its service as using no cookies and collecting no personal data. Its free plan keeps analytics data for six months.

Cookies

I haven't added any cookies to this site, and the analytics service says it doesn't use them. The services that deliver the site, listed below, may handle technical data such as your IP address.

If you email me

I use your email address only to reply. Please don't send tax file numbers, bank details or full account statements.

Feedback

If you use the Yes or No buttons under a result, the site records your answer along with the page and the type of result, for example "Italy" and "may be able to reclaim". It never records your amounts. If you email me or use a feedback form, I use what you send to improve the site. The feedback form is run by Google Forms, as described above.
